Nova Southeastern University (NSU) recently hosted a dinner CLE to discuss the trial and sentencing of John Goodman. In May, the multi-millionaire and founder of the International Polo Club Palm Beach was sentenced to 16 years in prison and fined $10,000 for a drunk driving crash that led to the death of a 23 year old student in 2010. The trial made national news after Goodman adopted his 42 year old girlfriend to help protect some of his assets from a wrongful death suit by the young man’s family.
Attorney Ron Herman participated in the CLE as a member of the panel, which discussed elements of the case, such as Goodman’s charges and his ultimate sentence. NSU alumni in attendance found the evening’s discussion to be very informative and interesting.
